Welcome

In 1999, I was traveling around the US as a Cincinnati-based consultant when I was assigned to work in southern Indiana for a week.  After seeing exciting places all across the US (Boston, Seattle, Ft. Lauderdale, Sedona), I thought a week in my Midwestern neighbor state had little to offer.  It turns out I was completely wrong.  Somewhere between hiking a gorgeous state park and visiting memorials to Indiana’s history and heroes, I realized that the US is full of beautiful and fascinating places.  I also realized that if I did not make a plan, I’d never see most of it.  So I set a goal for the new millennium, to visit each state, one by one, year by year, until I had seen the whole country.  In order not to give preference to one part of the country over the other, or give up after seeing the most traveled destinations, I decided to go in alphabetical order.  So in 2001, I packed up my curiosity, camera, and a notebook and headed for Alabama.  Twelve years later, I am nearly a quarter of the way done, and thought it was time to share the experience.  I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do.
